On Sunday Whitworth swept NYU-Polytechnic (25-18, 25-9, 25-15). Kathy Taylor (Kentlake 2008) had three kills on five attempts.
In the battle for the tournament crown, Whitworth beat previously undefeated NYU in four games (25-17, 26-28, 25-22, 25-16). Kathy played RS and had two kills on three attemps.
After four matches, Kathy is second on the team in kill percentage at .600 (six kills in ten attempts with no errors). She seen limited action at both MB and RS.
Whitworth is 4-0 and off to their best start since 2004. They will host the Whitworth Invitation this Friday and Saturday in Spokane and then head to the Los Angeles area for the Cal-Lu-Fornia Tournament at California Luthern University on the 12th and 13th.

Portland Loses to Washington
Portland tried to keep it close in game one, but Washington proved too much and swept Portland, 25-19, 25-18, 25-12. A kill by Shelly Seivers (Kentlake 2006) brought the Pilots to within one in the first game at 18-17, but Washington went on a 5-1 run to close out the game. The third game was close until 12-11, but then UW's Airial Salvo served 11 in a row to put the contest out of reach. Portland closes the tournament with a rematch against Montana State this evening. MSU beat Portland 3-1 yesterday.
Whitworth Goes 2-0 to Open Season
Whitworth University swept Rutgers-Newark 25-7, 25-4, 25-9 to open the 2008 season. They then defeated Russell Sage College 25-14, 25-16, 13-25, 25-18. Kathy Taylor (Kentlake 2008) played MB against Rutgers-Newark and RS against Russell Sage.

Whitworth in New York for Tournament
Portland Loses to Montana
The Portland Pilots lost 3-1 to Montana State to open the 2008 season. Junior MB Shelly Seivers (Kentlake 2006) had one kill in the loss.
